Lifeguard:
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all members and guests while maintaining a clean,
orderly, and well-maintained pool environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent customer
service skills, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

Position: Lifeguard
Job Type: Part-time/Seasonal (April-October)
Location: Sandburg Pools (Managed by FFC Old Town)
Compensation: $21.50 per hour ($17.00 Pre/Post-Season)

Pre-Season Duties and Responsibilities at Both Pools: (April/May)
  • Unpack all pool supplies and deck equipment from cabanas
  • Perform detailed cleaning of all pool equipment, guard office, break room, locker rooms, pool seating, and surrounding areas
  • Thoroughly clean the interior of pools and gutters
  • Set up pool deck and seating according to designated photo layout
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide a clean, safe, and healthy environment for members, guests, and co-workers
  • Every staff member, regardless of position, has a primary and urgent responsibility to clean and disinfect all club components as they are used by members and guests and yourself. Help retain and attain new members through club promotion and customer service excellence
  • Enforce all facility rules and regulations
  • Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies
  • Report unsafe conditions and/or equipment to Pool Manager immediately
  • Attend all staff meetings, in-services and training
  • Provide a clean, orderly, safe and healthy environment, for guests and co-workers
  • Demonstrate a positive customer service attitude in keeping with the company’s Core Values of Friendliness, Superior Service, Integrity, Improvement and Safety
  • Respond to the member’s concerns, suggestions and requests
  • Other projects as assigned by the Pool Manager
  • Responsible for opening, closing and shift specific cleaning tasks in locker rooms, bathrooms and on pool deck
  • Responsible for reporting any maintenance issue to Pool Manager and Sandburg facility maintenance upon identification of issue
  • Responsible as directed by Pool Managers to assist as needed with shift reporting
  • Responsible for being aware and attentive to team mates and patrons at all times.  Cell phone or reading material  are prohibited for use on shift
Post-Season Duties and Responsibilities at Both Pools. (September/October)
  • Break down pool deck setup and properly store equipment and supplies
  • Perform a comprehensive final deep cleaning of all pool equipment, locker rooms, offices, and common areas
  • Clean and prepare pools and gutters for off-season closure
  • Assist with packing and securing all seasonal materials for storage and put into the cabanas
Qualifications:
  • American Red Cross CPR Certification (or equivalent)
  • American Red Cross First Aid Certification (or equivalent)
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification (or equivalent)
  • (Certification training available if needed)
Minimum Requirements
  • Must meet minimum age requirement for lifeguard certification
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to swim required distances and perform all lifeguard rescue skills
  • Ability to remain alert, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry rescue equipment and assist patrons when necessary
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, sun exposure, and humidity
  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak summer hours
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty
  • Follow uniform, attendance, and code-of-conduct policies at all times
Professional Conduct and Performance Standards
  • All Lifeguards are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and accountability.
  • Wear the assigned uniform and identification at all times while working
  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work for all scheduled shifts
  • Remain alert, attentive, and engaged throughout all rotations
  • Refrain from socializing, personal phone use, or distractions while on stand
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with members, guests, and coworkers
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and directives from Pool Management
  • Demonstrate teamwork, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding member and facility information
  • Failure to meet conduct or performance standards may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination
Compensation: $21.50 per hour
